What’s This Journal About?

This journal is part testimony, part tool, and part healing.

As a daughter, it’s my way of honoring the road I walked with my dad. The grief, the caregiving, the quiet sacrifices nobody sees. It’s personal.

As a therapist, it’s my way of starting a conversation that’s been missing for too long. Nobody talks about the impact of caregiving. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. And that silence creates shame. It makes you feel like you are overreacting. Like you shouldn’t ask for help or say you’re struggling. But when I started to open up, people responded with: “Yes. This is so needed. I didn’t have the words for what I’ve been carrying.”

So this journal became more than my story. It became a space for others too. A place where caregivers and grievers can feel seen, supported, and reminded they’re not alone.

It’s not just for reflection. It’s for reconnection with yourself, with God, and with the truth that healing is possible even in the hardest parts of this journey. Care for the Caregiver matters too.

CareGivers Grief ARC Framework

Caregiver grief doesn’t follow a straight line. It builds. It lingers. It transforms you. That’s why this journal is built on the 6-stage journey that reflects what caregivers actually experience:

  • The Shift – When “helping out” becomes a full identity shift
  • Care Creep – When responsibilities grow quietly until they consume you
  • The Pause – When death brings silence, not closure
  • The Fog – When exhaustion clouds your mind, spirit, and memory
  • Reconstruction – When you start piecing life together again
  • Revealed – When you finally see the growth and strength that came through it all

Every chapter of the journal walks you through one of these stages with space to name what you feel, reflect on what shifted, and rebuild at your own pace.

Walking Grief Road: Unpublished Pages

There wasn’t room  for every page I wrote. But it didn’t feel right to keep those moments tucked away. So instead of trying to force them into limited space, I decided to share them in other ways

  • Papa, I’ve had some dreams not every night, but enough to stay with me. The other night i dreamt, I woke up startled. I heard you yelling for me. You’d fallen in the closet and couldn’t get up. You told me not to come in, and then somehow, you got yourself up. I said, “Good job, Dad,” and then I woke up. I know it’s normal. But it still shakes me.
  • Today’s Reflection: Grief shows up in the quiet, in the night, in dreams that blur memory and emotion. Maybe that dream is just my heart sorting through it. I think it was about you wanting to protect me, even then. You were strong, Papa.  "And I’m learning to be, too."

No Team? This Is Your Tool!

You don’t see it coming until time starts slipping through your fingers.

One day, you’re helping. The next, you’re holding everything. And somewhere along the way, the countdown begins.

Not everyone gets a team. Not everyone has someone to call. But everyone deserves a place to fall apart without falling behind. That’s why the Caregiver’s Grief Journal exists.

For the silent grief. For the moments you didn’t ask for. For the weight no one else sees. You don’t have to hold it all alone anymore. This journal is here to walk with you.
One entry, One breath, One memory at a time.
